Head of School Welcome

I am proud to be the Head of School here at Sinnington and be part of this fantastic community school. My teaching career began a number of years ago in inner city Middlesbrough and more recently I have been teaching in Whitby. On a personal note, I am married and a father of 4 boys ranging in age from 6 to 12 years old.  As a father, I know how important education is and to get it right for all children, but also that every child learns in different ways. This is something that we are striving
towards here at Sinnington and as we have the luxury of small class sizes we aim to make learning personal to every child.

The school has four wonderful and vibrant classrooms that provide excellent learning environments. In January 2020, our Pre-school came onto the school site from the local Village Hall and our Reception/Year 1 class moved into our new purpose built classroom.  As a school, we use Project Based Learning (PBL) approach to deliver our curriculum and we have incorporated elements of the Power of Reading programme to ensure quality texts are the driving force behind each of our projects. This approach provides each child with a rich, broad and balanced curriculum.  PBL is a teaching approach where all children respond to an authentic and engaging question.  The approach encourages collaboration between all children and focuses on skills such as critical thinking, communication and problem solving. A quality text is also used to drive the project; to promote reading and language skills, and a ‘Love of Reading’.
Here at Sinnington, we want to give every child fantastic opportunities to become independent learners and acquire skills for life. Every child that joins Sinnington School will receive a warm welcome, feel part of the family and receive an excellent, rounded education.
