Uniform

What to wear and our policy

Sinnington CP School operates a policy of ‘school colours’.  School uniform helps to establish a good standard of appearance, a sense of belonging and pride in the school. The policy is reviewed every year.

The school uniform can be ordered online at School Shop.

We do not allow high heels or flip flops/backless sandals due to safety of the children in the playground. In bad weather, we do suggest that children wear wellies for school, but they need to bring a pair of normal school shoes to change into, slippers are not appropriate. Please ensure all uniform is named.

Our main school colours are red, white, black and grey.

· Sensible flat black shoes.

· Plain white school shirt or plain white/red polo top.

· Red sweatshirt with school logo if possible.

· Grey/black school trousers, skirt or pinafore.

· Black, grey or white socks or tights.

· Red and white checked dress.

Physical Education

All children take part in PE lessons and get to experience different sports throughout the year. Any child who is unable to do PE must bring a note explaining why and prolonged illnesses may require a doctor’s note.

PE Kit

Your child will need an indoor kit of:

· Shorts/Joggers black

· T-shirt red or white

· Plimsolls or trainers

During winter months we also suggest that your child should have a tracksuit and outdoor trainers. The majority of children take their PE kit home for washing at the end of each half term. Children may bring their kit in a bag and leave it on their peg – we do encourage all kit to be washed regularly.

What's not allowed

• Jeans, denim, football shirts, hooded tops and inappropriate clothing should not be worn.

• Football shirts should not be worn for P.E.

• Nail polish or tattoos must not be worn in school.

Jewellery

Jewellery should not be worn in school. If a child has pierced ears, only 1 pair of sleepers or studs should be worn to reduce the risk of injury. Body piercing with the exception of ears, is not permitted for Sinnington C.P. School pupils. It is the school policy that earrings and watches must be removed during P.E. lessons for the health and safety reasons.

We ask parents to sign a disclaimer, if they are unwilling for their child to remove earrings, so that they take the responsibility if an accident occurs involving torn ears in P.E./ Games.

Hair & Styling

Hair must remain a natural colour. Streaked, tinted or multi-coloured hair is not allowed. Threaded braids are discouraged. Long hair must be tied back if it poses a health and safety risk, extremely short hair of the ‘skinhead’ style is not allowed. Designs and patterns cut into the hair are inappropriate for school.
